People helping people…
Salford Credit Union is a co-operative, owned and controlled by its members (that’s you!). We are growing and are increasingly busy so help is always needed.
Volunteers are an essential part of the Credit Union and with your help we can provide better services and to more people. Using volunteers to help promote our services can keep costs lower and provide a better deal for members. Our volunteers know their local communities well so they can help spread the word. We also work in partnership with local organisations- large and small- because working together we can do even more to improve the lives of local people.
Our volunteers tell us they enjoy volunteering because they:
- Like being part of a worthwhile service that helps local people
- Can meet new people and make new friends
- Gain confidence and sense of purpose
- Learn new skills and get career experience- which may help if looking for work
- Make a difference which helps build a stronger community

Please note: volunteers may need to undertake a DBS (criminal record) check and credit check for certain roles and in some cases will require approval by The Financial Conduct Authority. You will not be able to volunteer with the credit union if you are an un-discharged bankrupt.
Salford Credit Union provides training for volunteers and you provide your time and commitment. You will need to become a Credit Union member to volunteer. Eligible expenses are covered by the Credit Union.
There are different ways you can help Salford Credit Union as a volunteer. From raising awareness with friends or colleagues, giving us a case study of how the Credit Union has helped you or helping on a regular basis at one of our collection points.
From time to time we also have vacancies on the Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee- these are all volunteer roles (which require formal authorisation by the Credit Union’s regulators).
