Salford Credit Union AGM 11th March 2021- online success!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first ever online AGM on 11th March.

We are pleased to let all members know that we held our 32nd AGM successfully, completed al the business required by our rules and carried out the necessary elections.

We were helped by our trade body ABCUL who provided the online facilities which meant that people could join the AGM to hear the presentation and take part in votes.

Attendance was up by 20% on last year- we were pleased even more people could hear about the progress made and plans for the future.

Business carried out

The Accounts for the year October 2019- September 2020 and Annual Report were presented and accepted, with contributions from the Chair, Secretary/Acting Treasurer and Deputy CEO.

The Supervisory Committee- the ‘eyes and ears’ of members also presented their report.

The auditors made a positive contribution about how the Credit Union has performed, despite the challenges of Covid-19.

We were also able to show two videos, one with a message of support from Paul Dennett, Salford City Mayor, and one showing the work of the 8 Credit Unions across Greater Manchester- Salford Credit Union is part of this consortium. You can watch this video here:

Elections

Elections were held for two Directors up for re-election: Alec McFadden and Jack Youd and for two new Directors, Wilson Nkurunzia and Haroon Majid, who will bring new skills and experience to the Board.

Mike Dyson was also elected to the Supervisory committee, having been on this committee in the past.

If any members want copies of the Accounts or Annual report please use the Contact Us form so that we can send you these.

Thank you

Thank you again to all our members who joined us for our AGM.

The Annual General Meeting is an important opportunity for us to engage with our members as a Co-operative. All our owner- members can take part- one member one vote, whether you have £30 or £3000 in savings. We look forward to seeing you again next year and hopefully before!
