Meet our New Chief Executive Officer
Dear Members, Volunteers and Strategic Partners,
In April 2022 Sheila, our long serving CEO advised the Board of her intention to retire. Following the recruitment process the Board has appointed me as Sheila’s successor effective 1st October 2022. Many of the members will know me as I have worked for the Credit Union for over 10 years in several roles, most recently as the Chief Operating Officer.
The Credit Union has faced many challenges during my time and despite the current economic climate the Credit Union has never been better placed to deliver for our members. The evolution of the Credit Union has seen continual change and improvement to the business, our product offering and the way we service you the members. We have introduced online membership and loans via our website. This has allowed us to substantially improve our approach to customer service, without this it would have been very difficult for us to maintain our services throughout the pandemic. We’ve also overhauled our approach to IT, modernising it and making it more secure. We have also added an option to register to be able to view your balances and transactions online via the website. There is also an online loan calculator so members can work out how much they can afford to borrow prior to submitting the application. We have also improved many of the policies and processes internally so that we can best serve your requirements effectively.
The Board of Directors, Volunteers and Staff Team are keen to drive the business forward to grow the membership, provide even more modern services and quicker turnaround times. This is my challenge and one I am committed to delivering on. One major addition that we are looking to launch in the coming months is the Salford Credit Union Mobile App. We carried out a member survey a couple of years ago and 86% of you told us that this is something that you wanted. We have been working with our system providers to make this happen and we are nearly there. Once launched you will be able to download the app from your app store, check balances and transactions, do your own transfers to your bank account and apply for loans. I will also be reviewing our product range in the New Year to see if we can add to or improve our offer to you. We have also added an external Marketing Company (Zync Digital) to our team and if you follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or LinkedIn you will see our regular posts which will hopefully help us to grow the business but will also keep you up to date with our current offers.
It will be a real privilege to lead Salford Credit Union and I look forward to sharing further correspondence with you, updating you on our progress, to make the Credit Union one you are proud to be a member of.
